Q&A: Cassidie

What’s your role at 5 & Rise, and how do you contribute to the team’s success?
My official title is Digital Success Manager, but I spearhead a lot of our client’s social media efforts. From social media strategy to creation to management, I make sure your brand is being communicated to your organic audience in a clear, concise, and polished way.

What inspired you to pursue a career in marketing/advertising?
I always knew I would pursue a career in business as I wanted to be just like my dad. Back then, I thought being in business meant I could carry a briefcase and wear glasses just like him. Turns out, those aren’t the parameters for this! I took my first marketing class during one of my dual enrollment courses in high school and fell in love with the physiology behind marketing. I didn’t realize there was a science behind it and it only made me want more. I never looked back from there!

How do you stay updated with the latest industry trends?
I follow a lot of the industry experts on their social media accounts. That’s the way that I consume content the most/best!

What tools or apps are essential to your daily work?
My phone is by far my #1 tool. However, all the social media apps, Simplified Social Hub, ClickUp, and Google Calendar are the apps I can’t live without!

What’s one industry trend you’re excited about right now?
Influencers/UGC creators. I think we’ve only seen the beginning of people like you and me making money off of social media and I think consuming content from real people who use the product or service is the way so many of us like to consume content anyways. It will be exciting to see how more businesses utilize this new way of marketing in their overall strategy.

What’s been the biggest change in the industry since you started your career?
Probably how algorithms have changed the social media landscape. When I started my first job, social media was only about who could generate the most content to get seen the most. With the integration of personal algorithms, creators and businesses actually have to create value-filled content that their audience wants to consume.

If you could solve one major industry challenge, what would it be?
Viewing social media solely as a lead generation tool. Yes, it’s a great way to reach new people and grow your business, but it’s also a way to connect and give value to a community of people that might not have been in your universe in person. Shifting your mindset on this allows for so much more growth potential because you’re creating from a place of service rather than greed.

What’s your favorite way to start the morning before diving into work?
Going to the gym! It clears my head and starts the day off with something that is good for my health and overall well-being.

If you had an extra hour of free time every day, how would you use it?
I would love time for a midday nap!

What’s one destination you’ve always wanted to visit, and why?
Europe, for sure. Currently in the middle of trying to plan an anniversary trip there to witness the architecture, art, and history that the country exudes.

What’s your go-to comfort food?
Chocolate chip cookies – Crumbl or Chick-Fil-A preferably!

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?
Both of my grandpas. They passed away when I was really young and I’d love to have known them longer/get to know them as an adult now.

Do you have any pets? Can you share a funny or endearing story about them?
Yes, a mini goldendoodle named Watson. He’s the most spoiled and loved dog I know!

If you had to choose only three apps to have on your phone, which ones would they be?
Instagram, Google Calendar, and Oura.

Describe your perfect day off. What does it look like from morning to night?
Wake up without an alarm around 9, go to the gym at 9:30, cook/eat breakfast after, get ready for the day, go shopping with my girlfriends, have lunch with them, come home and read, cook dinner with my husband, go on a long walk with our dog Watson, and end the night with a movie and popcorn!
